A Storied Heritage
Established in 1945 on the grounds of the Kern County Museum, Pioneer Village spans 16 sprawling acres dedicated to preserving Central California’s early pioneer, agricultural, and industrial life.
The outdoor living museum features more than 50 authentic historic structures relocated from across Kern County—including late 19th-century wooden cabins, a pioneer jail, a one-room schoolhouse, and a historic general store. Anchoring the grounds is the iconic 100-foot-tall wooden oil derrick, standing as an enduring symbol of the region's rich wildcatting and energy history.
